Multiple title-winning karting talent Mari Boya has joined MP Motorsport for his debut season in motorsport. The Spanish teenager will contest his national Formula 4 series with MP, completing the Dutch team’s five-car line-up.
Boya teams up with MP Motorsport on the back of a final karting season that he started as the reigning CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy winner. The 15-year-old Spaniard is now ready for his first single-seater assault with the team that has racked up many Spanish F4 titles since it joined the series in 2016.
“I’m really glad to be able to join MP Motorsport for my first year in motor racing”, said Boya. “They are one of the established teams in Spanish F4. Together, MP and the Spanish Formula 4 Championship form the perfect platform for me to start on what I hope will be a long and successful motorsport career.”
“We are happy to welcome Mari to our F4 team”, said MP’s team manager Sander Dorsman. “He has shown exceptionally well in his karting career and I’m sure that his talent will fluently translate to single-seaters. We will be eager to further hone his car-racing skills – and then who knows what our first season together in Formula 4 will bring?”
Boya is a triple winner of the Spanish Karting Championship, taking Cadet titles in 2015 and 2016, and the Junior title in 2018. In between he also won the 2018 IAME X30 Junior Winter Cup before stepping up to the Spanish Senior Championship and the IAME X30 Senior Euro Series in 2019, claiming 12th in the latter series with several heat and overall wins. From 2016, Boya also competed in Rotax Max (Mini Max) and the WSK Super Master Series (OKJ).
