Completing the family and winning in April

MP News — May 1, 2024

April was a pretty quiet month for most race fans, but there were still plenty of activities to look back on in this month’s recap.

Not quite in April, but Nikita was announced as the final addition to our FRECA line-up. He drove his first meters in our MP-coloured car during the FRECA testing in Hockenheim this month and set the ninth-fastest time of the weekend. We just have to wait a little longer for the first round of the season, which will start on the 11th of May.

Dario became the final addition to the Eurocup-3 team and MP family for the 2024 season. Having driven the final three rounds of EC3 last year, the Swiss is going for his first full campaign with MP in the upcoming season.

After a drought of four weeks, we were finally going racing again, during the first round of Eurocup-3. Spa-Francorchamps was being its typical self and met us with lots and lots of rain which caused unsafe conditions on the track and served as the cancellation of the two qualifying sessions on Friday. It did clear up, which meant it was time for the first race of the weekend. The starting grid was formed by the testing results a day earlier. After a lot of slipping and sliding, Javier took home his first victory of the season! This was additionally our only opportunity to secure a win since the second race followed in the footsteps of qualifying and was cancelled due to heavy rain.

May will be packed with lots of races, starting with the second round of the F1 Academy in Miami. One week later the first round of both the Spanish F4- and the FRECA season will begin. Then the following week our F2 and F3 teams are travelling to Imola for the fourth and third rounds of the season, and EC3 is moving south to Spielberg, Austria for the second round. No time to rest for F2 and F3 as on the 23rd of May they will make up for the historical Monaco track. To finish of May, FRECA is racing in Spa-Francorchamps. Let’s hope for better weather this time!
