F2 Le Castellet

Formula 2 — July 24, 2022

Double points and a podium

MP Motorsport had a positive weekend at the Paul Ricard Circuit in Le Castellet, France. It was a hot weekend where the sun shone full on, making tyre strategy even more important.

Initially, Felipe Drugovich finished fourth in both races, but after several penalties were given after the race he was promoted to third. The Brazilian thus took his seventh podium of the season. Saturday’s race started a little harder for Clément Novalak, who was driving on his home track, as he couldn’t get away during the formation lap. He had to start the race from the pitlane and finished 17th.

The strategy of Sunday’s race went perfectly for the Frenchman. He started from the 15th position and finished eighth. He finished in the points for the third time this season. Teammate Felipe Drugovich started from the sixth position on Sunday. He started the race on the hard tyre, all drivers around him in the top 10 started on the soft tyre. As a result, he lost a few positions at the start, but by changing to the soft tyre, he regained them towards the end of the race and finished fourth. Felipe also set the fastest lap, for which he received an extra point.

No time to rest, Formula 2 moves on to Budapest next weekend.

Current driver standings:
P1 Felipe Drugovich – 173 points
