FIA Formula 2 Round 14 Abu Dhabi

Formula 2 — November 27, 2023

For the final round of the FIA Formula 2 championship, we travelled as usual to Abu Dhabi. We had a driver swap as Franco Colapinto took over Jehan Daruvala’s seat. Franco has been announced for our F2 2024 line-up and used the final round of the championship to get some mileage and experience in the F2 car.

Franco went out early in the Practice Session to get as much time in his new car. He set the 19th time, and Dennis the 12th time. Later that afternoon they went out for the qualifying session. Dennis had great pace in the second half of the session and finished in P6, Franco finished in P20.

The Sprint Race knew an exciting opening lap, but due to a spin in the back of the grid, the safety car had to come out after the first lap. At this point, Dennis was driving in P5, the same position he started the race from. Franco had a decent few opening laps and found himself in P17 after 8 laps. Dennis was stuck behind Hadjar for the main part of the race, but in the final lap, he was able to overtake him in the final sector of the Yas Marina Circuit. Franco finished in P20.

Unfortunately, Franco stalled on the grid when the drivers drove off for the formation lap, this meant he had to start the Feature Race from the pitlane. Dennis had a decent race with good fighting and was able to finish in P7. Franco had to retire early due to technical issues.

Final driver standings after round 14:
P8 Dennis – 113 points
P12 Jehan – 59 points
P25 Franco – 0 points
Team standings after round 13:
P6 – 172 points
