FIA Formula 3 Round 8 Budapest

Formula 3 — July 25, 2023

Part one of the doubleheader!

Budapest is over and out! A weekend with highs and lows, with tyre degradation being a major talking point on the entire grid and as the highlight of our weekend Franco’s podium!

The Sprint Race on Saturday saw Franco making up two places, ending the race in P7, with Jonny behind him in P8. Mari unfortunately picked up some damage and ended the race in P22. The races in Budapest saw a lot of struggles with tyre management due to the high downforce and heat of the circuit. Due to these factors, the Feature Race on Sunday was shortened to 19 laps.

With the Feature Race on Sunday, our starting positions were as originally qualified, with Franco in P4, Jonny in P8 and Mari in P15. With his eyes on the prize, Franco got into a great battle for the podium, ending the race in P3, and ending his weekend in a champagne shower. Jonny ended the race in P8 and Mari made up 5 places to P10, making all of our cars point-scorers in the Feature Race at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Driver standings after round 8:
Franco P6 – 93 points
Jonny P15 – 23 points
Mari P17 – 13 points

Team standings after round 8:
P5 – 129 points

We’re on a doubleheader, which means it’s back-to-back racing and you don’t have to wait too long to watch F3 on track again. In just a few day’s time we’ll be racing in Spa-Francorchamps on the weekend of July 28-30.
