Formula Winter Series takes over Valencia

Formula 4 — February 19, 2024

For the second weekend of the Winter Series, the MP team travelled to the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia. After an exciting start, the team is looking to continue their good form. During the first weekend, Griffin grabbed both a P1 and a P2 at the Circuito Permanente de Jerez.

And off to a great start we got, with Griffin again grabbing P2 during the first qualifying session. Rookie René finished the session at P4, Maciej at P8, Lucas at P20, and Peter at P28. Mattia his transponder wasn’t operating, which led to him not setting an official time.
Griffin converted his strong performance during the first qualifying session into a P3 finish in race 1. Maciej gained a total of four positions to make it into a similar fourth place. Lucas and Peter both gained a significant amount of positions by finishing eighth and tenth on the grid. René lost several positions and grabbed P14, with Mattia finishing 32nd  to finish of the MP grid.

It appears Griffin doesn’t just know how to be fast on the track at Jerez but also in Valencia. Our number 3 managed to reach a top speed of 155,22 km/h which led to pole position. Mattia regained his speed of the first weekend and finished P15, with René following up with his teammate at P16. Maciej and Peter did the same which made for a very satisfying P17 and P18. Lucas sadly finished in the 26th position.
Peebles knows what that winning feeling feels like, and is now addicted to it. For the second weekend in a row, he manages to turn his pole position into a win and makes it two for four. Mattia gained a total of eight positions which makes him the number seven in the second race. René follows him up with an outstanding P8. Peter managed to finish P10 and Maciej at P15. Lucas sadly wasn’t able to finish the race and received a DNF.

The third race of the weekend started at 4 PM and finished off the races at the track in Valencia. Griffin remained the fastest MP driver on the grid and grabbed P2, which means a joint first place in the championship, with Peter following him up a few positions behind him at P12. Lucas got his highest position this weekend at the sixteenth position and René managed to secure P19. Unfortunately, both Maciej and Mattia weren’t able to finish the final race of the weekend and received a DNF.

Points after the second weekend:

1 Griffin – 108
3 Maciej – 70
8 Mattia – 16
12 Lucas – 6
15 René – 2
16 Peter – 1
