Lots of overtaking at the Albert Park Circuit in Australia

Formula 3 — March 25, 2024

For the second round of the Formula 3 season we travelled to The Land Down Under. The weekend started for our F3 MP team with the Practice Session where we found much to improve. For qualifying, Alex qualified at P17, Kacper managed to break into the top twenty by qualifying at the nineteenth position and Tim finished the MP grid at the twenty-second position.

The Sprint Race started well for everyone, besides a few lockups there were no big moments. Alex calmly and with a lot of confidence managed to overtake several drivers in front of him, which led to him finishing in the points at P9. But due to post-race penalties, he was promoted to P7. The same applied to Tim, who followed in his footsteps and managed to finish in the twelfth position. Because Kacper received a penalty for exceeding track limits, he was initially demoted to P24. But after further inspection, the penalty was overturned which meant P16 for the man from Poland.

The Feature Race did not start how Tim would have liked. During the first lap, he made contact with another driver which led to a puncture and an early pitstop. Nevertheless, he fought back strong and ended the race as the fifteenth driver on the grid. Overtaking was made difficult by tyre degradation, which led to Alex and Kacper both gaining one position toward their starting grid positions. P16 and P18 for them.

These results from the races in Australia mean the following for the MP team standings:
P6 Tim – 21 points
P17 Alex – 6 points
P23 Kacper – Points

We will have to wait a bit for the next race this Formula 3 season, which will take the F3 back to Europe. On the 17th of May round three in Imola will start.
