Newly crowned Spanish F4 champion Mattia Colnaghi will stay with MP Motorsport as the Italo-Argentine driver progresses to Eurocup-3 in 2025. Following a sensational rookie season that resulted in title glory, Colnaghi aims to leverage his steep improvement curve at the next level of single-seater racing.

Colnaghi’s promotion to Eurocup-3 comes on the back of a brilliant debut season in the Spanish Formula 4 Championship. Initially targeting top rookie honours in his first year of car racing, Colnaghi soon changed his aim after claiming his first pair of poles and wins in the fourth round at Paul Ricard. The 16-year-old from Monza who came into Spanish F4 after winning the Richard Mille Young Talent Shootout, went on to snatch four more wins, three more poles and five more podiums on his way to a well-deserved title. He will now join Maciej Gładysz, Valerio Rinicella and Alexander Abkhazava in MP’s multi-car Eurocup-3 effort, with more drivers yet to be announced.

“I’m extremely happy to continue my single-seater journey with MP Motorsport”, said Colnaghi. “Thanks to the team, this year has been a dream come true, so it was an easy decision for me to stay with them for 2025. MP have had a very strong season in Eurocup-3, lifting the teams’ championship, so they are arguably the best team in the series. It will offer me the best possible opportunity to move forward and once again fight for victory. The calendar looks great, full of amazing circuits that I’m looking forward to learn, so I can’t wait to start the season!”
“Everyone at MP is delighted that Mattia will remain with the team for 2025”, said Sander Dorsman, MP Motorsport’s team principal. “We were certain that he would be a star following his win in the Richard Mille Young Talent Shootout, and he proved us right with a convincing title in his first year in cars. We now aim to support his charge further up the single-seater ladder, and the ever-growing Eurocup-3 series is the obvious next step for a talent of his calibre. Like Maciej and Valerio, Mattia has grown to be part of the MP family, and together with new arrival Alexander they will form a strong core to our 2025 Eurocup-3 line-up.”

Colnaghi first shone in karts in 2020, taking seventh in the Trofeo Italiano of the Easykart 60 category. Moving up to OK Junior level in 2022, the teenager claimed 12th in the 50th Trofeo delle Industrie while making his debut in the CIK-FIA World Championship. Colnaghi then had a breakout debut season in OK in 2023, first finishing 15th in the CIK-FIA European Championship before claiming a strong sixth in the CIK-FIA World Championship.
