Quick young Frenchman Louis Cochet will move up into single-seaters with MP Motorsport by making his debut in the 2026 F4 Spanish Championship. The 15-year-old youngster from Normandy graduates to car racing following a highly successful career in karts.

Cochet and MP Motorsport made their acquaintance in a series of private winter tests on the Iberian peninsula that showed a lot of promise. The Frenchman first tested the Formula 4 waters on the back of a strong final season in the OK category in karting, taking P20 in the CIK-FIA World Karting Championship after running in the top-ten all weekend. Cochet also finished on a solid note in the European Championship, claiming fourth at Viterbo.

“I’m extremely proud to be able to make my single-seater debut with MP Motorsport”, said Cochet. “The F4 Spanish Championship is one of the leading Formula 4 series in the world, and MP have been a dominant force in the category since it started back in 2016. Their experience in the series will certainly help to increase my learning curve, allowing me to be competitive right from the start. I look forward to a winter of further honing our cooperation, in order to hit the ground running once the racing truly gets underway. Bring on 2026!”
“We are very pleased to welcome Louis in our F4 Spanish line-up”, said Sander Dorsman, MP Motorsport’s team principal. “Louis has more than proven his speed and racecraft in karts, and is ready to make the all-important switch to single-seaters. We are fully prepared to give him all the support that he needs to turn 2026 into a successful first year on the road to Formula 1.”

Before rising to OK level in karts, Cochet performed strongly in the OK Junior category in 2023 and 2024, competing in the CIK-FIA’s World Championship and European Championship as well as the new Champions of the Future series. In 2022, the Frenchman claimed his national NSK Cadet title before moving to Italy to start his international career.
